Poster Notes from Open Space group: How does the Hub relate to Local Groups?

How do we want the relationship to work?

At present there are a spectrum of relationships- some local groups engage regularly with the hub, others are largely autonomous

Some people in the Open Space group were confused about the relation.

Is the name ‘hub’ useful, appropriate etc.?

Do we need a ‘hub’?

Agreed that a ‘hub’ of some sort is necessary for the following reasons:
Acting as a Point of contact – e.g. local govt do not want to have to deal with all the Transition groups
To facilitate cross cutting issues- such as transport, currency
Knowledge transfer
Dating agency

Hub may need to decline or evolve into something else.

Doing ‘transition’ in cities is a ‘work in progress’ and we are one of the first cities to try the process out

Hub is currently not working well on all levels BUT is working for:
Organising big events- e.g. Great Spring Sowing
Bringing groups together- e.g. today!

Hub needs to work on: communication and feedback with local groups

Time to encourage a rethink of how the hub and local groups communicate and feedback to each other

WE NEED A HUB- but it may have a different name and format, and must not be top down

Local groups need to rethink their relations to the hub too- what do they want from the hub, how can they use a hub as a source of facilitation?

RENAME the hub
